Everything you need to know to vote in the 2025 local elections.
Voting papers for the 2025 local body election will be delivered between 9 and 22 September 2025. Not everyone in the same household, street or community will receive their voting papers on the same day. Please be patient while votes are delivered.
Voting opens on 9 September and closes at 12 noon 11 October 2025.

If you did not receive your voting papers, or they’re lost or damaged, you will need to cast a special vote.
Wellington City Council uses the Single Transferable Vote (STV) electoral system to elect its Mayor, councillors and community board members.
