Oku Street Reserve

The Oku Street Reserve lookout has excellent views of the Orongorongo Range and Baring Head.

Location: Headland between Island bay and Owhiro Bay.

How to get there:  No 1 Bus to Island Bay, then walk 10 minutes to Oku Street

Entrance and exit points: Oku Street and Severn Street.

Brief description: The reserve is part of the City to Sea Walkway and is a short walk from Shorland Park in Island Bay and Owhiro Bay.

Further around the headland at the geodetic survey site lookout there are views of Owhiro Bay, Sinclair Head and, on a clear day, the Kaikoura Range in the South Island.

Parking:  Parking difficult at Oku Street entrance.

Accessibility: The walk up to the headland is easier from Oku Street, but there are some steps at the start.

Dogs: Dogs must be kept on a leash.
