Have a Go!
This programme is for people with an intellectual (learning) or physical disability.
Groups play a range of different sports and activities that cater to all abilities and physical levels. Each session is customised based on the number of attendees, their abilities and their experience. We start with a warm-up and light activities, followed by sport-specific drills, and finish up with games to put the skills learned into practice.

Home Education programme
This programme provides home schooled children the opportunity to supplement their physical education.
There are a number of groups to choose from each week. The groups are centred around Sport New Zealand’s ‘Physical Literacy approach’. Groups vary depending on age and the desire to participate in structured sports or less formal activities so please check out our descriptions to see which group is best.

Home Education - Gym Jam (ages 5 and under)
Our 'Gym Jam' group offers children the opportunity to actively discover via play set-ups. The play set-ups entice children to move in any way their imagination may lead them, thus empowering them to learn and be challenged at their own pace. This supervised and unstructured activity promotes the development of motor skills and facilitates social interaction which is crucial at this primary age.
Home Education – Skills Practice (ages 6–10)
Our 'Skills Practice' group focuses on developing new game skills. It is at a cognitive stage of learning that includes deconstructing certain skills to make them easier to understand and execute. In the process, children acquire abilities in context while maturing a sense of self-observation in relation to specific sports.
Home Education – Skills development (ages 11–13)
This group addresses the associative stage of skill development to slowly apply those previously assimilated skills to team games. The sessions focus on learning how structured sport works with play-based activities that practice game skills and situations (without the competitive edge). This group gives children the option to keep learning through play and some structured activities but will be more focused on building confidence playing in a group.
Home Education – Team games (ages 14+)
Our ‘Team Games’ group is about seeking new experiences. We help our youth learn responsibilities, take risks and express themselves as part of a team dynamic. The ‘Team games’ group will provide a clearer understanding of the pathway from informal social physical activity, games and play through to more competitive, structured sport. There will be different sports to play each week but the focus will be more on competition and full game situations much like those that children may experience as part of sports clubs or teams.
