This report draws on the Ministry of Transport's Transport Outcomes Framework (2018) and the Council's Sustainable Transport Hierarchy (2022). It provides an analysis of Wellington's transportation landscape, including the Council's assets, demographic projections, economic indicators, travel patterns, infrastructure investments, and transportation mode distribution.
It includes information on:
- Inclusive access: for example, traffic volumes, and access to transport infrastructure (footpaths, bike lanes, and public transport).
- Health and safety: for example, transport-related deaths and injuries, health impacts of transport-related air pollution, and perceptions of traffic safety.
- Environmental sustainability: for example, transport-related emissions, vehicle kilometres travelled (VKT) and fuel consumption, and vehicle fleet composition.
- Resilience and security: for example, vulnerability to disruptive events, transport network locations at risk from natural hazard events, and transport assets risk assessment.
- Economic prosperity: for example, vehicle and public transport travel times on core routes, mean vehicle operating speed, and congestion.
Reporting is expected to be available by mid-2025.
