Vehicle types not eligible for a resident parking permit
You can’t get a resident parking permit for these types of vehicles:
- non-motorised vehicles (such as, trailers and caravans), heavy goods vehicles, motorhomes, house buses, buses, and coaches
- boats
- all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and quad bikes.
Under the Parking Policy, these vehicles have the lowest priority for long-stay on-street parking. Therefore, they are not eligible for parking permits.
Visitor day passes
A day pass allows anyone visiting your home to park longer than the three-hour time limit in P180 spaces. This pass is valid for a single calendar day.
All households in the Berhampore and Newtown west parking zones can apply for a batch of free visitor day passes every year. You don’t need to have a resident parking permit to get the visitor day passes.
How the day passes are allocated:
- Households with no off-street parking get 50 free visitor day passes a year.
- Households with off-street parking get 25 free visitor day passes a year.
You can buy more visitor day passes for $18 each. See how to issue visitor day passes.
Businesses are not eligible to apply for visitor day passes.

If you want to park in a P180 space for as long as you want, you need to apply for a resident parking permit and provide the required documents. Also check your vehicle meets the requirements below.
