Coupon parking zones and fees

Coupon parking zones are on the edges of the central city. It's free to park in them for up to 2 hours and on public holidays. To park for longer, you must have a valid coupon.

Coupon parking zones

If you need to park for longer than 2 hours near the central city, you can use a coupon parking zone. They are clearly marked with blue and white signs.

There are coupon parking zones in the following suburbs:

  • Clifton
  • Kelburn
  • Mount Cook
  • Mount Victoria
  • Te Aro
  • Thorndon

Living in a resident parking area with coupon parking

If you live in an area with resident parking, you can apply for a permit to park in coupon parking spaces.

Coupon parking hours

Coupon parking rules apply Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. 

It's free to park in a coupon parking zone on public holidays. There is no time limit.

Coupon parking fees

It's free to park for a total of 2 hours in a coupon parking zone. After that, you will need to pay for and display a coupon.

Note: Your time does not reset if you move your vehicle to another space within the same coupon parking zone.
