Social media at Wellington City Council
Our social media channels enable us to connect and engage in real-time conversations directly with Wellingtonians. Shared content and conversations help develop community spirit, greater awareness of events, and news and information.
The main purpose of using social media is to inform Wellingtonians about issues, initiatives and opportunities that may affect them, with the underlying objectives of:
- Increasing public participation in Council activities, discussions, and physical resources like pools and libraries
- Improving the Council’s reputation by creating and sharing stories that showcase the people, places, projects and initiatives we are investing in
- Demonstrating value for money by raising awareness of where rates are invested, showcasing what the Council does and encouraging more people to use Council services.
We have the following social media channels.
Wellington City Council channels
The Mayor of Wellington
Recreation facilities
Wellington Gardens
Wellington City Archives
