Council signs

Wellington City Council owns and maintains many different types of temporary and permanent signs on public property.

The signs are maintained by different teams in the Council, depending on where they are located. Types of Council signs include:

  • traffic, driver information and parking signs
  • parks and reserves name and information signs
  • facility signage including housing, pools, recreation centres, and libraries
  • a variety of location and information signs.

The Council also uses the Railway Station billboards, banners on Jervois Quay, flags and flagpoles, beacons, and digital advertising on bus shelters around the city (through Adshel) to promote events. Some billboard and banner sites can be booked by event organisers:

Public signage is designed in a way that complies with the Council's visual identity, while still meeting legislative requirements.
