Under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, you're not allowed to promote alcohol in the course of your business that:
- encourages excessive drinking
- offers discounts on alcohol of 25% or more off the normal retail price, unless the offer is:
- within the licensed premises (and can't be seen or heard about from outside the premises)
- in the catalogue or price list (for an off-licence that has remote sales (for example, over the internet and phone)
- offers alcohol that is free of charge, unless the offer is:
- for complimentary sampling within an off-licence premises
- within a licensed premises (and can't be seen or heard about from outside the premises)
- offers a prize or other goods, on the condition that alcohol is bought – unless the offer is only promoted and advertised within the licensed premises
- promotes or advertises alcohol that will have special appeal to people under 18 years of age.
