Friday Five: Winter school holiday activities

Wondering how you can keep the kids busy over the holidays while it’s a little chilly outside? We’ve got you covered! Here’s five things to do across Pōneke from 11 to 22 July.

1. Skate on down to the Ice Rink

Embrace the cold and chuck on your winter coat, then head to the Ice Rink on Queens Wharf for a go on the ice!

The Ice Rink is open until 31 July, between 10am-10pm daily. Find out more on their website

2. Join one of our Holiday Programmes 

Why not leave the planning to us? There are a range of awesome holiday programmes available at Nairnville and Karori Recreation Centre, as well as the ASB Sports Centre. All you need to do is book a spot and we’ll do the rest. Book now on our website.

Or, if you are looking for some pop-up fun, head to Tawa Recreation Centre on Wednesday 13 and 20 July between 10am-12pm for their popular Inflatable sessions. It costs $10 per child, and there is no need to book.  Find out more on the Tawa Recreation Centre Facebook page.

3. Sneak a peek at the new baby Monkey! 

Wellington Zoo have welcomed a teeny tiny Cotton-top Tamarin into the family, and now you and your little monkey can go see it on your next visit to the Zoo.

4. Be a good sport

Make it an action-packed school holidays by going along to support a few your favourite teams.  

Check out the Saints at the TSB Arena on Sunday 10 July and Thursday 14 July, as they battle it out against the Otago Nuggets and the Bay Hawks. Get your tickets online here

Or, head along to the Māori All Blacks Vs. Ireland on Tuesday 12 July for an exciting weeknight match. Book your tickets here

5. Check out the programmes at Wellington City Libraries

Children’s programmes are back up and running at Wellington City Libraries, and they have a jam-packed line-up for the school holidays  perfect for those chilly Winter days.
